My preference for cleaning cushions is after cleaning the body, then there is a clean place to put the clean cushions. And, generally the cushions are more soiled than the body. I give them the needed pre-spray so it will have more dwell time while cleaning the body. Some of the time I use a folding table, some of the time I stack the cushions on the seat decking to be at a proper working height. Some of the time I stack them on the ottoman. Standing behind the sofa, and tilting the back up onto the front legs, or over on the front side to clean the outside back is easier than crouching or kneeling down to clean the outside back. When cleaning chairs, I always tilt the sides up for easier working on them. The order I do the cleaning is - facing the sofa or chair, I start on the inside arm of the left side. This way, working around to the left, the hoses are not in the way as much as working to the right. So, I do the insdide of the arm, front of arm, top of the arm, outside of the arm. Inside back, top of back, outside of back, then inside of other arm, top of arm, front of arm, then crevice tool the edges of the seat decking, clean the seat decking, and last the front lower part. Generally, I lay the sofa on it's back to do the front without stooping or kneeling. Sometimes, it is easier to do the outsides of the arms with the sofa or chair on it's front, or back, then I can do the cleaning making strokes down from the arm to the bottom of the sofa. This is particularly important when cleaning velvets, or chenilles.
